Viamedis and Almerys, two French companies specialising in managing third-party payments for complementary health insurance, have recently become targets of a significant cyberattack.

The breach, as reported by the French National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL), resulted in the infiltration of personal information belonging to more than 33 million individuals. The compromised data includes sensitive details such as individuals' civil status, dates of birth, social security numbers, names of health insurers, and policy coverages held by policyholders and their families.

Fortunately, certain types of data like banking information, medical records, medical reimbursements, postal addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses were not exposed in this particular attack. This incident highlights the growing threat posed by cyberattacks and underscores the importance of robust security measures in safeguarding sensitive personal information.
