Advocating for the seamless implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has emphasized the necessity of eliminating visa restrictions among African nations. In addition to this, they underscored the importance of establishing a comprehensive database of available skills and simplifying the process of deploying labor across borders.

Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, conveyed these recommendations during his keynote address at the Nigerian Local Content AfCFTA Energy Summit held in Lagos. He stressed the urgency of removing barriers hindering intra-Africa trade and urged African leaders to standardize codes and regulations for goods and services. Furthermore, he highlighted the significance of reforming the services sector and enhancing trade facilitation programs.

Dr. Ama Ikuru, representing the Executive Secretary, reiterated NCDMB's commitment to collaborating with stakeholders such as PETAN and APPO to empower Nigerian oil service providers to capitalize on the expansive market opportunities presented by AfCFTA.

Abdulmalik Halilu, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation at NCDMB, emphasized the importance of specialization within oil-producing countries to enhance competitiveness in manufacturing and service areas of the oil and gas industry. He advocated for collaboration among African countries and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to foster a thriving intra-Africa trade ecosystem.

Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, the Secretary General of APPO, echoed the sentiment of unity among African nations and emphasized the potential of pooling resources to achieve self-sufficiency in the oil and gas sector. He highlighted the establishment of the African Energy Bank and the ongoing efforts to create regional research centers as critical initiatives to support African oil and gas projects.

During a panel session, Dr. Obinna Ofili, the Director of Finance and Personnel Development at NCDMB, expressed concerns about financing key initiatives of AfCFTA amidst ongoing geopolitical conflicts. He recommended that APPO develop a robust financial strategy and mobilize funds from various sources, including international financiers. Additionally, he advised other African oil-producing countries to establish financing programs similar to Nigeria's Content Intervention Fund to support local supply chain growth.

The NCDMB's advocacy for the removal of visa restrictions and the facilitation of labor deployment, coupled with efforts to enhance intra-Africa trade and financial support for key initiatives, underscores their commitment to harnessing the opportunities presented by AfCFTA for the benefit of the African continent.
